What is reaction time?

Reaction time is the time between the moment a stimulus appears and the moment you respond to it. For a visual click test like this one, that’s the time between the screen turning green and your finger pressing the mouse button.

What’s a good reaction time?

  • Below 200ms — exceptional. Pro esports level.
  • 200–250ms — fast. Above average.
  • 250–300ms — average human range.
  • 300–400ms — slower than average, but normal under fatigue.
  • Above 400ms — worth checking sleep, distractions, or input lag.

Tips to improve your score

  • Use a wired mouse with low polling latency.
  • Plug your monitor in via DisplayPort and disable any “cinema” or smoothing modes.
  • Rest your hand and don’t pre-tense — the test will catch you clicking early.
  • Test on a fast browser tab with no other heavy tabs open.
